Hearty Bread Casserole

The perfect hearty bread casserole recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

loaf

  • 6 disc Stale bread
  • Herb butter

sauce

  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Clove of garlic
  • 2 Cans Chunky tomatoes
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sugar
  • 3 Stems Chopped basil

aside from that

  • 300 g Cooked ham
  • 100 g Grated cheese

sauce

  1. Peel the onion and garlic, cut into small cubes and sauté with a little oil –
  2. Now add the tomatoes, season with salt, pepper and a little sugar and simmer for about 5 minutes and add the chopped basil.

  1. Halve the bread, brush with a little herb butter and fry on both sides in a pan,
  2. Grease a baking dish and alternately layer the bread and the halved ham
  3. Now pour the tomato sauce over it, sprinkle with the cheese and then put it in the 160c. warm oven for about 15 minutes
  4. Take out the casserole, let it rest a little and then arrange on a plate with a little basil – Bon appetit; 🙂
