Apple Poppy Tart

The perfect apple poppy tart recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

dough

  • 200 g Butter
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 300 g Flour

Covering

  • 1 kilogram Tart apples
  • 40 g Ground poppy seeds
  • 30 g Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Milk
  • 2 tablespoon Food starch
  • 400 g Sour cream
  • 2 Eggs
  • Almond sticks

  1. Stir the butter until foamy and gradually add the other ingredients, knead in until a smooth dough is formed, wrap in foil and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Covering

  1. Peel the apples, remove the core and cut into wedges.
  2. Mix the poppy seeds, sugar, milk, cornstarch, sour cream and eggs.
  3. Now roll out the dough into a tart pan (28 cm diameter) while pulling up one edge.
  4. Spread the poppy seed filling on top, cover with the apple slices and put in the 200c. warm oven for approx. 50-55 minutes.
  5. If you want, you can sprinkle a few more almond sticks on the cake.
  6. Take the baked cake out of the oven – let it cool down, sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy with a cup of coffee.
