Mussels in Spicy Tomato Sauce

The perfect mussels in spicy tomato sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1,5 kg Fresh mussels
  • 1 small Can of tomatoes
  • Fresh ginger
  • 1 Fresh garlic
  • 1 Chili
  • Salt
  • 4 Splash Fish sauce
  • 2 tsp Tomato paste
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 Spring onions fresh
  • 2 tsp Curry powder
  • 2 tsp Thai basil fresh
  • 2 tsp Fresh coriander
  • 4 Lemongrass leaves
  1. Dice onion, ginger, chilli, garlic, tomato paste and sauté in oil. Add everything else except for the mussels and reduce for about 15 minutes. When the mussels release liquid, the brew is automatically diluted again. Add the cleaned and sorted mussels and cook with the lid closed until they rise. Another option is to use coconut milk instead of tomatoes. You can then spice it up with lemongrass.
