There are pros and cons to freezing radishes. How you can proceed, what effects freezing has, and how long the radishes can be stored in the freezer, we will show you as follows:

  • If possible, use fresh radishes from the supermarket or straight from your garden. Clean them up by removing roots and stems. Then wash them off thoroughly under cold water. Then let the radishes dry completely.
  • Freeze the radishes whole. A fresh food box is particularly suitable for this. This should be freezer-safe and have a lid that closes well. Alternatively, freezer bags can also be used. It is best to label your container with the freezing date.
  • The radishes will keep frozen for about half a year. After this time, the radishes often lose their taste. To be on the safe side, you should no longer eat the radishes after a year at the latest.
  • Slowly thaw the radishes in a closed container at room temperature. Applying heat or allowing it to air thaw would affect the taste, texture, and appearance.
  • After freezing, the radishes don’t taste quite as fresh as before. They are also often not as crisp and look a bit shiny. However, they’re still tasty, so freezing is a good solution if you have a large batch of fresh radishes.
