Baby nutrition: eggs not too early
Nine months is now the age limit. However, eggs pose various risks to the child’s health. That’s why it makes sense to wait a little longer before the egg is served.
- If your baby is old enough, only give boiled eggs. Raw eggs and dishes containing raw eggs are not suitable for the offspring.
- Raw eggs can be contaminated with salmonella. This also applies to foods in which raw eggs are processed – for example, mayonnaise or tiramisu.
- Remember that ice cream can also contain raw eggs.
High allergy risk eggs
Giving your child eggs early increases the risk of allergies.
- Many people are allergic to chicken protein. If children eat eggs early, the risk of an allergy is quite high.
- Another thing to keep in mind about feeding eggs is the kid’s kidneys. They don’t work as well as they do in an adult. Due to the high protein content of eggs, they could be overwhelmed.
- Even very young intestines still have problems digesting eggs. The food can cause bloating in babies.
- Once your child is allowed to eat eggs, you should limit the amount to one boiled egg per week.
