Collect and prepare linden blossoms – this is how it works
Use the blossoms of the small-leaved lime, Tilia cordata, and the small-leaved lime, Tilia platyphyllos, for the lime blossom tea. The flowers of the silver linden, the Tilia tomentosa, on the other hand, are not very effective. Since the linden tree is not a rare tree here, you can easily pick the blossoms yourself and do not have to pay dearly for the linden blossoms in stores.
- You can harvest the blossoms of the small-leaved lime from June and the blossoms of the small-leaved lime a few weeks later, around July/August. However, do not use linden blossoms from trees that are on busy roads, as the blossoms quickly absorb environmental pollutants.
- After you have dried the umbels of flowers, the flowers will easily fall off on their own. To keep the linden blossoms for a long time, keep the tea in an opaque tin in a cool place. You can keep the dried linden blossoms for about a year.
- The preparation of lime blossom tea is very simple and no different from most other types of tea.
- For one liter of lime blossom tea, you use about ten grams of dried lime blossom. Put on water and then let the lime blossoms steep in it for about ten minutes.
- The taste of lime blossom tea is very mild and unobtrusive. In addition, the linden blossoms can be excellently combined with other medicinal plants such as elderberry, mallow, or aniseed.
