Jonagored was found in Belgium in 1986. He is descended from Jonagold, but has a much redder color.

Jonagored is ready for consumption from October to July.

The apple has a sweet and at the same time slightly sour taste, is firm, juicy and aromatic and has a balanced sugar-acid ratio.

Jonagored is suitable for all uses of an apple.

Storage

The Jonagored apple variety, like the related Jonagold variety, is very easy to store. The conditions for storage until spring should be as good as possible. Ensure there is sufficient humidity, a temperature of around 4°C and that it is exposed to as little sunlight as possible. Another important thing to note with Jonagored is: do not store it together with other fruits! If fruit and vegetables are stored in a bowl together with apples, they age faster and wilt earlier. Therefore, keep apples separately.
