Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slices of farmhouse bread
  • 300 g Leberkäse
  • 4 gherkins
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 onion(s)
  • ½ bunch chives, finely chopped
  • butter
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Spread the bread slices with butter. Dice the Leberkäse (meatloaf) and gherkins, mix together, and spread on the bread. Fry the eggs into fried eggs and place one egg on each Jägerschnitte (hunter’s slice). Thinly slice the onion and arrange them on the eggs. Finally, sprinkle with paprika and chives. Jägerschnitte is usually eaten by piercing the yolk so that it runs to the bottom and mixes with the Leberkäse (meatloaf).
