fast, inexpensive, delicious

Boil the boiled potatoes. Shortly before the end of the cooking time, fry the diced onions in butter until browned (not blackened!). Pour the buttermilk into a pouring bowl and add a little salt. Pour the brown butter and onion mixture into the buttermilk and stir well. Peel the boiled potatoes and slice them into soup bowls. Pour the buttermilk over them. This is a quick and inexpensive dish that we especially enjoy in the summer.
