Broad beans and potatoes with streaky bacon

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 jar broad beans
  • 4 large potatoes, diced
  • 2 slice(s) bacon, streaky, smoked (thick slices)
  • some lard
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • salt and pepper
  • savory
  • 1 cube of bouillon

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Heat the lard in a pot and brown the onions until light brown. Deglaze with a little water and cook the bacon slices in it. Remove the bacon and keep warm. Add the broad beans to the onions and heat. Season with salt, pepper, savory, and, if desired, bouillon cubes. Boil the potatoes separately in salted water until tender, drain, mash, and mix with the beans. Serve the vegetable stew on plates and place a slice of bacon on each. Serve with mustard.
