Turkish rice pudding

Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 500 ml water
  • 500 ml milk
  • 7 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup rice pudding
  • ½ packet of vanilla sugar
  • possibly cinnamon
  • possibly sugar for caramelizing

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Combine water, milk, sugar, and vanilla sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the rice pudding, stir well, and simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently. Once the liquid has settled slightly and the rice is cooked and slightly thickened, remove from the heat. The rice pudding should be soft and smooth, but not too runny. Ladle into bowls and let cool. Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired. You can also sprinkle sugar on top and quickly caramelize it under the grill.
