Maple syrup walnut scones

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g wheat flour
  • 100 g spelt flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp walnuts, grated
  • 150 g walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 6 tbsp maple syrup
  • 150 ml buttermilk
  • 75 g butter
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 35 minutes

Preheat oven to 200°C. Knead all ingredients into a firm dough and roll out to a thickness of 1.5 cm. Using a water glass or a cookie cutter, cut out approximately 4 cm rounds and place on a baking sheet. Place in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then let cool for the glaze. Glaze – light brown and tangy: Melt the butter with the maple syrup and stir in the cornstarch until a creamy cream forms, which can be drizzled over the scones.
