Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 onion(s), chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 500 g tomato(s) (Pizza tomatoes)
- 500 g pasta (macaroni), cooked, short
- 100 g cheese (Emmental), grated
- 100 g mozzarella, cut into thin slices
- 150 ml cream
- 2 eggs
- 40 g Parmesan
- ½ tsp thyme
- 1 tbsp butter
- olive oil
- salt and pepper
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½ tsp basil
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
Fry the onions and garlic in 1 tablespoon of olive oil until golden brown. Add the tomatoes, thyme, oregano, and basil. Reduce to a thick sauce, then season with salt and pepper. Grease a baking dish with a little butter. Add a layer of pasta. Spread some tomato sauce over the pasta and sprinkle with Emmental and mozzarella cheese. Continue in this order, finishing the casserole with pasta. Whisk the cream and eggs until smooth and pour over the pasta. Sprinkle the casserole with Parmesan cheese and knobs of butter. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes at 200°C. Tip: Other types of pasta can also be used; it’s a great way to use up leftovers.
