Hrinky with green borscht

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 1 baguette(s) cut into slices
  • 150 g processed cheese (smoked processed cheese with chili)
  • 4 eggs, hard-boiled
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • some oil for frying
  • Dill for serving

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Press the garlic cloves into the mayonnaise and stir to combine. Fry the baguette slices in a pan with oil on both sides, then drain on a paper towel. Finely grate the smoked cheese and eggs and mix them together loosely. Spread the cooled baguette slices with garlic mayonnaise, sprinkle with the cheese and egg mixture, garnish with dill, and serve. Hrinky are traditionally served with Ukrainian green borscht. But hrinky are also very popular as finger food at parties without borscht. For a milder garlic flavor, rub the fried baguette slices with a garlic clove and then spread with mayonnaise without garlic. Garlic and dill are used in many Ukrainian dishes.
