Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 250 g minced meat, mixed
- 200 g tomatoes, chopped
- 4 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- Paprika powder, smoked or other smoky spice
- Oil for frying
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 romaine lettuce heart(s)
- 100 g Cheddar cheese, grated
- 4 burger buns
- salt and pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Heat the oil in a pan and fry the ground beef until crumbly and golden brown. Reduce the heat and deglaze with the chopped tomatoes. Add the BBQ sauce and ketchup. Season the mixture with smoked paprika or your choice of seasoning and mix well. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes until thickened, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Wash the lettuce, halve it, and remove the stalks. Cut the lettuce into thin strips, place in a bowl with the mayonnaise, and season with salt and pepper. Halve the burger buns and toast them or use them soft-serve, if desired. Place the lettuce on the bottom. Cover everything with the meat sauce and top with grated cheddar. Replace the top half of the bun and enjoy your Sloppy Joe. At 4 Burns, one serving has 1200 kcal.
