Crisp Rice Cereal Cookies – American Valentine’s Day Recipe
Line a baking sheet (approx. 30 x 15 cm = 450 square centimeters) with parchment paper and grease with butter. Make a heart template out of cardboard, approximately 7.5 cm high. Heat the chocolate chips, syrup, and butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate and butter have melted. Add the Rice Krispies to the chocolate mixture and mix until well coated. Pour the mixture onto the baking sheet and chill for about 20 minutes, checking occasionally. The mixture should not be completely firm, just a little firmer. Cut out approximately 7.5 cm hearts from the dough, decorate with (colored) icing if desired, and chill until completely firm. Wrap the hearts individually in cling film and chill again until ready to serve. TIP: If you don’t want to give this “pastry” as a heart-shaped gift, you can simply cut the “dough” into square pieces and continue. Of course, the size can be changed as desired.
