Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 slices of toast
  • butter
  • 8 slices of cheese (Emmental or Gruyère, thinly sliced)
  • 4 slices of cooked ham (not too thinly sliced)
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt
  • Black pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Ladies’ toast

Spread the slices of toast with butter. Top 4 slices with alternating slices of cheese, ham, and another slice of cheese, then top each with 1 slice of toast. Heat the butter in a pan. Toast the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides. Meanwhile, fry 4 fried eggs in butter in another pan. Place an egg on each sandwich. Season with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
