Ramequin with ham

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 slices of toast
  • 8 slices of cheese (Emmental)
  • 8 slice(s) ham, cooked
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 ml milk
  • 250 ml cream
  • margarine
  • Paprika powder, sweet
  • salt and pepper
  • chives
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Toast the bread. Place a slice of ham and cheese on top and sprinkle with paprika. Place the bread diagonally one behind the other in a greased ovenproof dish. Whisk the egg yolks with the milk and cream. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and add the chives. Fold the stiffly beaten egg whites into the milk mixture. Pour this mixture over the bread in the dish. Bake in the oven at 200°C for about 30 minutes. Serve with a leaf salad. If you prefer a meat-free dish, you can omit the ham and use double the cheese. However, I use 8 slices of Emmental and 8 slices of Gruyère.
