Hot dog buns, makes 12.
Heat the milk, water, and butter in a saucepan until lukewarm. In a large bowl, combine just under half the flour, the yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the water, milk, and egg. Mix well using a mixer fitted with a dough hook. Gradually add the remaining flour while continuing to knead. When the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl, transfer it to a lightly floured surface and knead with your hands for about 8 minutes, until elastic. Divide the dough into 12 equal parts and shape into cylinders, gently patting them flat with your hands. Place on a greased baking sheet, cover with a cloth, and let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). After the rising time, place the buns in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown. This dough can also be used to make hamburger buns. Then divide the dough into 12 equal parts and shape them into balls. Place on a greased baking sheet and flatten slightly with your hand. Cover with a cloth and let rise for 30 minutes. After the rising time, place the buns in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
