Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Dried fruit and dumplings. My grandma always cooked these for us in the summer. They can be eaten hot or cold. They come from Northern Germany.

Soak the dried fruit overnight in plenty of water (the fruit must be covered). The next day, simmer gently with the soaking water, honey, and cinnamon until soft, stirring occasionally. To make the dumplings, combine the flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, and milk and knead well. Use a tablespoon to scoop out small lumps of dough and add them to the boiling soup. After about 10 minutes, the dumplings are cooked and the soup is ready. This amount is enough for one main meal. Tip: In summer, chill thoroughly in the refrigerator overnight and then eat as a refreshing meal.
