Plantene, fried

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 bananas (Plantene)
  • some oil for the pan
  • Honey, for spreading

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

African plantain

Preheat the pan with a little oil. Slice the plantain (available at African shops) diagonally into roughly 5 mm thick slices, place them in the pan, and fry until golden brown. Remove from the pan, brush with a little honey, and it’s done. It’s perfect as an appetizer or dessert. Don’t buy the green or yellow plantains right away; the darker and “uglier” the plantain, the sweeter and better it tastes, as it’s only then that it’s ripe. In Africa, it’s also eaten as a side dish with rice.
