according to an American recipe

For the chocolate batter, melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Beat the sugar and eggs, add the syrup, and mix in. Stir the cooled chocolate into the sugar mixture. Finally, add the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix gently. Mix approximately 650g of the chocolate mixture with 100g of walnuts and pour this into a greased brownie pan (24x24cm). For the cream cheese mixture, mix the cream cheese with the sugar, butter, and eggs using a hand mixer. Spread the mixture over the chocolate mixture. Place smaller dollops of the remaining chocolate mixture on top. Using a thin stick, such as a knitting needle, gently whisk the mixtures to create a marbled effect. Sprinkle the remaining walnuts over the brownies. Bake at 180°C for approximately 40 minutes. Test for doneness.
