Bacon braai broodjies with sausages

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 slices of toast
  • 4 small sausages, e.g. Nuremberg bratwurst
  • 2 tbsp cheese, grated, of your choice
  • ½ onion(s)
  • 8 slices of bacon

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Grill classics

Peel the onion, slice into strips, and sauté in a pan. Fry the sausages in a pan. Cut a square out of the middle of a slice of toast and set aside. Take another slice of toast and spread half of the onions on it. Make sure the edges of the toast are left free, then spread 1 tablespoon of cheese on it. Place the slice of toast with the cut-out center on top. Place the sausages in the cut-out center. Place the remaining onions in the middle on top and add the cheese to the edge. Place the last slice of toast on top and wrap each side with 4 slices of bacon. Place the braai broodjies in a grill basket and grill for 15 to 20 minutes.
