Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 6 cardamom pods, green
  • 4 carnations
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 1 tsp anise powder or 1 – 2 star anise
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 1 piece(s) fresh ginger root, finely chopped (approx. 1/2 – 1 tsp full)
  • 4 cup(s) milk, fresh
  • 6 cups water
  • 4 tbsp black tea (e.g. Assam or another strong variety)
  • e.g. sugar, brown sugar, honey or sugar syrup

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Spiced tea from Tibet and India

Combine all ingredients except the tea and your chosen sweetener in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer uncovered for one minute over low heat, then add the tea. Bring back to a boil, then immediately reduce heat to low and let steep, covered, for about 15 minutes. Strain directly into cups or a pot and sweeten to taste.
