Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 3 tbsp honey, liquid
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 3 lemon(s) – slices, untreated
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ½ tsp mustard, medium hot
- 50 ml whiskey
- some ginger powder
- some salt and pepper
- chili powder
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 3 hours 25 minutes
Barbecue dip American style, with that certain something
Finely chop the garlic cloves. Combine all ingredients, tasting occasionally and adjusting seasoning if necessary. Simmer gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a little more whiskey after simmering, if desired. Remove the lemon slices if desired. It’s best to let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving. Cover and keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It goes wonderfully with grilled dishes in the summer, such as spare ribs and steaks, or with meat fondue in the winter.
