Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1,200 g white cabbage
  • 900 g potatoes (floury)
  • Lard or oil
  • 1 onion(s)
  • Condensed milk, 10%
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Caraway, ground
  • 1,500 ml water
  • 1 cube of vegetable stock
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

White cabbage and potatoes together

Cut the white cabbage into fine strips. Dice the peeled potatoes. Sauté the diced onions in lard or oil until light yellow. Dissolve the stock cube in hot water and add it to the pot along with the cabbage, salt, and caraway seeds. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes. Add the potatoes and simmer until tender. Ladle over some of the stock. Then mash everything and season with salt and pepper. Finally, stir in a little condensed milk until nice and mushy. Serve with applesauce or bratwurst.
