Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 40 g yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar and
  • 140 ml water, lukewarm (30°C) for the yeast
  • 500 g flour (wheat flour type 405 or 550)
  • 180 ml milk (30°C)
  • 100 g raisins
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 30 g butter
  • 70 g sugar
  • some milk, for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Dissolve the yeast in a cup of lukewarm water with the sugar. Sift the flour into a baking bowl. Pour the dissolved yeast into a well and mix it with the flour. Gradually knead in the milk, butter, sugar, salt, and raisins. Dust with a little flour and cover. Let it rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes. When the dough has doubled in size, knead briefly and place it in a greased loaf pan, cutting it lengthwise. Let it rest for another 10-15 minutes. Brush with a little milk and place it in the preheated oven on the bottom rack. Add half a cup of water. Bake for approximately 30-40 minutes. Brush with another layer of milk after removing from the oven. Almonds can also be used instead of raisins. E: 200°C: Gas Mark 3-4
