Fig and port wine mustard

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g mustard, medium hot
  • 400 g fig(s), fresh
  • 200 mg port wine, red
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tsp balsamic vinegar, red
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

sweet and spicy

Chop the fresh figs and add the port wine, salt, cinnamon, sugar, and balsamic vinegar. Bring everything to a boil and simmer over low heat until the figs are soft. Then puree until smooth. Now add the mustard, mix everything together, and pour the fig mustard into small jars with twist-off lids. Boil the jars down, so the mustard will keep for months. It goes perfectly with turkey or chicken schnitzel, but also with game.
