Rice pudding without rice pudding

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 350 ml milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Sugar
  • 50 g long grain rice, e.g. Basmati rice
  • 10 g cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

with regular long grain rice

Season 250 ml of milk with a pinch each of salt and sugar and bring to a boil. Add the rice to the boiling milk and cook until al dente, depending on the type of rice and the package instructions (usually about 10-15 minutes). In the meantime, mix the remaining 100 ml of milk with the cornstarch and vanilla sugar (or just 10 g of vanilla pudding powder instead). When the rice is tender, stir it into the boiling milk. Boil gently for one minute. Sweeten to taste and serve with cherries or cinnamon and sugar. 471 kcal per serving.
