Creamed mushrooms on toasted bread

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g mushrooms
  • 1 onion(s), maybe a little more
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 2 tbsp oil, for frying
  • some salt
  • some black pepper, freshly ground
  • 4 slice(s) toast bread, preferably wholemeal
  • ½ tsp thyme, dried
  • 2 tbsp sour cream, maybe a little more
  • some vegetable stock, granulated to taste
  • possibly white wine

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

an ideal small meal + quick to make

Clean the mushrooms and halve or quarter them, depending on their size. Peel and chop the onion and garlic clove. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic. Add the mushrooms and fry for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Reduce the mushroom liquid over high heat (this eliminates the need for artificial thickening and enhances the mushroom flavor). Season the mushrooms with granulated stock, if desired. Add the thyme and sour cream and stir to combine. Toast the slices of toast, place them on warmed plates, and arrange the mushrooms on top. Tip: If you like, you can add a little white wine to the mushrooms and let it cook.
