Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 1 fig(s), fresh (depending on size, maybe 2 pieces)
- 2 slices of Parma ham (alternatively Serrano ham)
- 25 g goat’s cheese, soft
- Sugar
- pepper
- possibly balsamic vinegar
- optionally leaf salad of your choice
- olive oil
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C for fan-assisted cooking – without preheating). Wash and dry the figs, and trim off the tips. Then halve them crosswise and top each half with a piece of goat cheese. Wrap them loosely with a slice of prosciutto and place them on an ovenproof plate or in a baking dish (either oiled or lined with baking paper beforehand). Sprinkle a pinch of sugar on the goat cheese, grind it over with a pepper mill to taste, and drizzle with a little oil if you like (but it’s not necessary, and if you do, do this before the sugar). Bake in the oven for about 12 minutes. Check frequently after about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven. Serve either as is or on (marinated) lettuce leaves. Drizzle with a little balsamic vinegar and/or olive oil, if desired. I like to incorporate this dish into a meal as an uncomplicated and light starter. The goat cheese and ham are flavorful enough that you can skip the need for additional salt. Tips: As an alternative to goat cheese, which not everyone likes (or if you prefer something milder), you can also use buffalo mozzarella. For a quick dinner, I double the amount per person. It’s wonderful with a salad and fresh bread.
