Cheese spaetzle casserole with bacon

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 200 g spaetzle
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 100 g bacon, diced
  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 150 ml low-fat milk
  • 120 g processed cheese, with herbs
  • 50 g cheese, grated, light,
  • salt and pepper

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Cook the spaetzle in salted water according to the package instructions. Dice the onion and bacon, and cut the spring onions into rings. Briefly fry the bacon cubes in a pan, then sauté the onion cubes and spring onion rings for about 5 minutes. Pour in the milk and melt the cheese. Season everything with salt and pepper and fold into the spaetzle. Transfer everything to a baking dish, sprinkle with cheese, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (180°C fan-assisted oven) on the middle rack for about 20 minutes.
