Schnitzel topped with bratwurst

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pork schnitzels
  • 4 sausages
  • 200 ml cream
  • 1 cup crème fraîche with herbs
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp dried herbs
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 onions
  • 250 g grated cheese, Gouda or Emmental
  • 1 tsp salt
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Place the 4 schnitzels in a baking dish and season with salt and pepper. Finely chop a clove of garlic and scatter it over the schnitzels. Remove the skin from the sausages and shape them into schnitzel shapes. Place a shaped sausage on each schnitzel. Peel the onions, slice them into thin rings, and cover the schnitzels with them. Mix together the cream, crème fraîche, salt, pepper, herbs, and nutmeg. Finely chop the remaining garlic clove and add it. Spread the mixture over the schnitzels until they are completely covered. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the schnitzels. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan oven) for about 40 minutes.
