Vegan green spelt burgers

Ingredients for 20 servings:

  • 2 cans of red beans
  • 2 cans of mushrooms
  • 250 g fine oat flakes
  • 125 g green spelt
  • 2 onions
  • 1 liter vegetable broth
  • salt and pepper
  • Spice mix (gyros spice)

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

perfect for barbecues, picnics or as a meatball substitute!

Soak the oats and green spelt in the vegetable broth. Use enough vegetable broth to form a firm, kneadable mixture. Finely chop the onions and blend them with the beans and mushrooms in a bowl using a hand blender. Then blend with the green spelt and oat mixture. Add water if necessary to create a kneadable, yet firm mixture (like minced meat). Season with salt, pepper, and gyro seasoning as desired. Form into balls and fry in oil. Eat as a burger on a bun with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and vegan spread, or simply enjoy with a delicious barbecue sauce!
