Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g Maultasche(n), with meat or vegetables
  • 1 small head of cauliflower
  • 1 small head of broccoli
  • 200 g cream cheese with herbs, 5% fat absolute
  • 250 ml Cremefine, for cooking, or cream
  • 150 ml vegetable stock
  • salt and pepper
  • Pinch(s) of nutmeg
  • 100 g grated cheese for gratinating

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Wash the broccoli and cauliflower and cut into florets, blanch briefly or steam in a steamer for 8-10 minutes. Cut the Maultaschen into strips. Layer half of the Maultaschen in a baking dish, cover with a layer of broccoli/cauliflower, another layer of Maultaschen, and finally another layer of vegetables. For the sauce, mix 150 ml of vegetable stock with the cream cheese and Cremefine, season generously with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in a few more fresh herbs if desired. If the sauce is too runny, stir in a little more locust bean gum or sauce thickener. Pour the sauce over the mixture in the baking dish and cover with the grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25 minutes. Tip: The vegetables can be swapped out as desired, so you can always have a new version.
