Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 1 piece(s) ginger root, about 5 cm in size
- 1 chili pepper(s)
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 2 cloves
- 1 pinch of nutmeg
- ½ tsp saffron threads
- 1 stalk(s) cinnamon, small
- 50 g white rock sugar
- 1 liter of schnapps (Doppelkorn)

Water of life
Peel the ginger root and cut into small pieces. Wash the chili pepper, split it open, and remove the seeds. Combine the ginger, chili, and all other ingredients in a sufficiently large, clear glass bottle (a mason jar will also work). Shake the bottle (or jar) repeatedly over the next few hours to dissolve the rock candy. Place it on a windowsill, preferably a south-facing window, and let it steep for 48 hours. After 48 hours, filter the mixture and pour it into smaller bottles. Store in a cool place.
