Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 2 cans of kidney beans (400 g each)
- tbsp rapeseed oil
- 100 g bacon
- 100 g onion(s), peeled
- 100 g sausage (smoked sausage)
- 2 garlic cloves, slightly chopped
- 150 ml coffee, black
- 30 g ketchup
- 20 g tomato paste
- 35 g BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- e.g. chili powder

Rinse the kidney beans in a sieve. Cut the bacon and onion into larger cubes. Slice the smoked sausage. Combine the coffee, ketchup, tomato paste, BBQ sauce, maple syrup, and chili, if desired, in a bowl. Brown the bacon in oil until well browned, then add the onions and cook for about 2 minutes. Add the smoked sausage and garlic and cook for another 1 minute. Deglaze with the sauce, stir in the kidney beans, and simmer gently for about 2 minutes. This dish is usually served with sourdough biscuits, but baguettes, rolls, or bread will also work.
