Marion's bread bake

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • Butter for the mold
  • 4 rolls, stale
  • 250 g meat sausage
  • 100 ml milk
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 3 eggs
  • Parsley
  • salt and pepper
  • 200 g Gouda, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Generously butter a large casserole dish. Cut the rolls and sausage into slices (approx. 2 cm in diameter). Mix the sour cream with the eggs, finely chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Combine the rolls and sausage. Pour the milk over the rolls and stir thoroughly. It’s important that the rolls aren’t soggy, but that there are still firm spots. Mix with the sour cream mixture and sprinkle with the cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes. As a child, this was one of my favorite dishes and was always enjoyed with the “German” tomato sauce (see “Marion’s Tomato Sauce”).
