Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 large white bread (white bread roll) or 2 baguettes
  • 200 g ham (toast ham)
  • 200 g Gouda, sliced
  • 1 handful of cocktail tomatoes
  • 500 g Greek yogurt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vegetable stock powder
  • salt and pepper
  • Thyme
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for roasting
  • some margarine for the mold
  • possibly crumbs

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Grease a baking dish thoroughly. Slice the white bread. For the topping, finely dice the onion and finely chop the garlic. Mix the yogurt with the eggs, herbs, vegetable stock, salt, pepper, garlic, and onion. Season to taste. For the topping, wash and slice the tomatoes. Set aside the ham and cheese. Place a layer of white bread in the dish and pour over some of the egg and yogurt mixture. Cover with some of the ham, tomatoes, and cheese. Add another layer of white bread and the topping. Add the remaining ham and tomatoes. Finish with any leftover slices of bread. If desired, sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Cover thickly with cheese slices and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C on the second shelf for 25 minutes. Note: My aunt invented this after a party ended with too many leftover white bread rolls.
