Sugar-free berry jam with chia seeds

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g berries, frozen or fresh
  • 1 dashes lemon juice or lime juice
  • 3 tsp chia seeds
  • Agave syrup or date syrup, optional

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

First, place the berries in a saucepan and heat gently. Stir frequently until the berries start to juice. While stirring, break up the larger berries. Once they’ve become a puree, add the chia seeds and a squeeze of lemon or lime juice and stir in. Then, continue to heat gently for a short time until the chia seeds swell. If you like, you can add a little agave syrup or date syrup (I use agave syrup) to taste to make the jam a little sweeter. While the mixture is still hot, pour it into a prepared jam jar (disposable glass) and tighten the lid. Once the spread has cooled, store it in the refrigerator. I use a frozen berry mix from Alnatura for the berries, but you can also find them at other supermarkets.
