Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 300 g Nuremberg bratwurst
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp tomato paste
  • 500 ml tomato juice
  • 480 g mixed vegetables, frozen
  • salt and pepper
  • 500 g spaetzle (leftover or from the refrigerated section)

Chop the garlic, slice the sausages, and prepare the frozen vegetables according to the package instructions. Fry the sausages in oil until well browned, then remove from the fat and let the garlic and sugar caramelize in the frying fat. Add the tomato paste and sauté briefly. Deglaze with the tomato juice and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the cooked vegetables and sausage slices to the tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Let the spaetzle simmer in the hot water for 1 minute and serve.
