Pasta casserole 'Piroschka'

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g pasta (e.g. croissants)
  • Water (salt water)
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 50 g smoked belly
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 3 eggs
  • Salt and pepper from the mill
  • nutmeg
  • 150 g cheese (e.g. Emmental or Gouda), coarsely grated
  • some butter for frying
  • Butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Peel and finely chop the onion. Wash, deseed, and dice the bell peppers. Finely dice the bacon and cut the ham into strips. Fry the bacon in a little butter, add the onion and bell peppers, and simmer for 10 minutes. Grease a baking dish and layer the pasta, ham, and bacon and vegetable mixture. Whisk the eggs with sour cream, season well with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and pour over the casserole. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 175-200°C for about 30 minutes.
