Cinnamon apples with cream

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 apples, firm variety e.g. Cox Orange or Boskop
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 250 ml cream
  • Fat, for the shape

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Peel the apples, halve them horizontally, and remove the cores with a corer, taking care not to create a through-hole. The bottom should remain closed. Mix the sugar and cinnamon. Place the apple halves, cut-side up, in a well-greased baking dish. Sprinkle with 4 tablespoons of cinnamon sugar. Pour the cream into the hollow of the core until some of it runs over the apples and into the dish. Bake on the middle rack of a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes. Then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar over the top and bake briefly again until the sugar is caramelized. Serve hot, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired. Tip: The apples should neither fall apart nor become too brown, so adjust the cooking time if necessary.
