Meat sausage with onions

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 ring/s of meat sausage or Lyoner
  • 2 onions
  • 3 slices of cheese (Emmental or Gouda)
  • Butter or clarified butter for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Cut the sausage into thirds and peel the skin. Dice the onions and melt the butter or butterfat in a pan. When the fat starts to sizzle, add the onions and brown them lightly, stirring occasionally. When the onions are golden brown, cut the Lyoner sausage into three-quarters and stuff the onions inside. Place a slice of Gouda or Emmental cheese over each third of the sausage to prevent the onions from falling out. Melt the cheese either in the oven at 175°C or in the microwave.
