Quark Balls

The perfect quark balls recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

Fat for deep-frying

  • 100 g Sugar
  • 500 g Flour
  • 500 g Quark
  • 100 g Starch
  • 2 packet Baking powder
  • 2 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 3 liter Sunflower oil

To sprinkle

  • Sugar and cinnamon
  1. Put the sunflower oil in a large saucepan and heat to 170 ° C.
  2. First stir the eggs and sugar until frothy. Then mix in the flour, quark, cornstarch, baking powder and vanilla sugar and work into a smooth dough.
  3. Mix the sugar and a little cinnamon in a bowl to roll the balls in later. Prepare a plate or colander and line it with kitchen paper where the balls can drain.
  4. If the fat is hot, either check with a wooden spoon or put a piece of dough in it, if it floats bubbly on top, you can start baking.
  5. To fry, cut off large pieces of tennis ball with 2 tablespoons and carefully add them to the hot oil. Bake the balls for approx. 3 – 5 minutes until they are golden. To ensure that they are evenly baked and cooked inside, turn each ball occasionally while baking. I used a wooden stick for this. You can also use a fork for it.
  6. Lift the finished quark balls out of the pot with a slotted spoon, let them drain briefly on the kitchen paper and then roll them into the cinnamon and sugar mixture while it is still hot. It is best to serve it warm.
