Apple casserole with vanilla sauce

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 3 eggs
  • 200 g sugar
  • 300 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 3 tbsp yogurt (alternatively buttermilk)
  • 1 kg apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pack of pudding powder (vanilla) for cooking
  • 750 ml milk (for low-fat use skimmed milk)
  • 60 g sugar
  • Flour for the mold
  • Fat for the mold
  • possibly berries for decoration

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy. Stir in the flour mixed with the baking powder and 3 tablespoons of yogurt. Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes (approx. 0.5 x 0.5 cm). Stir them into the batter with a little cinnamon. Bake in a greased and floured baking dish (approx. 25 x 35 cm) for 35-40 minutes at 180°C. Bring the vanilla sauce to a boil with 750 ml of milk, sugar, and a sachet of custard powder. Serve the casserole lukewarm on hot vanilla sauce. Garnish with some berries. Leftovers of the casserole are also delicious cold.
