Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g stale bread rolls or rusks
  • 2 eggs
  • 500 ml milk
  • 750 g apples
  • 50 g sugar
  • 50 g raisins
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Slice the rolls into thin slices. Whisk the milk and eggs together and pour over the rolls, letting them sit. Meanwhile, thinly slice the apples. Grease a baking dish and place a layer of moistened rolls, followed by a layer of apples. Sprinkle the apples with sugar, cinnamon, and raisins, then another layer of moistened rolls and apples until all the apples are used up. Add the apples for the final layer, but don’t add the raisins or sugar (it will burn). Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for 30 minutes. Serve with vanilla sauce.
