Pear and vanilla jam

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg pear(s)
  • ½ kg gelling sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 35 minutes

Peel the pears and core them. They don’t need to be chopped. Heat the pear pieces in a saucepan with a little water, the preserving sugar, the vanilla extract, and a dash of lemon juice. Be careful, they can boil over quickly! When the pears are soft enough after about 5 minutes of cooking, puree everything with a hand blender. Pour the still-hot jam into preserving jars and let it cool.
