Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 200 g tofu, firm (natural tofu)
  • 1 tsp mustard, medium hot
  • 1 dash of soy sauce, dark
  • 100 g flour
  • some black pepper
  • some spice mix for steaks
  • some soy milk (soy drink)
  • some breadcrumbs
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Breaded tofu-based schnitzels

Cut the tofu into approximately 1 cm thick slices and mash them with a fork. Place the tofu crumbs in a bowl and mix with the flour, mustard, soy sauce, and seasoning. Knead the mixture thoroughly until it reaches a dough-like consistency. If the mixture is too crumbly, simply add a little more flour. Form the mixture into small balls and flatten them as much as possible with your palms. Dip them first in soy milk, then in breadcrumbs, and press them down firmly again. Fry the cutlets in hot oil on both sides until golden brown, then drain on some kitchen paper.
