Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 100 g butter
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 m.-sized eggs
  • 100 g marzipan paste
  • 180 g flour
  • 80 g cornstarch, fine
  • 3 tsp, leveled baking powder
  • ½ lemon(s), untreated, zest
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 80 g marzipan paste
  • 5 tbsp milk
  • 12 tbsp chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Preheat the oven to 180°C top/bottom heat (160°C fan-assisted). Line a baking tray with baking paper. First, crumble the marzipan mixture into a mixing bowl with your fingers and mix with the remaining dough ingredients until a smooth dough forms. Using 2 tablespoons, place 12 heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking tray and bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Carefully place on a wire rack and allow to cool. To make the glaze, heat the milk and marzipan mixture in a small saucepan, stir until smooth, and stir in the icing sugar. Brush the warm glaze onto the flat side of the cooled American cookies and decorate with chocolate sprinkles. Alternatively: For a simple glaze, mix approx. 150g of icing sugar with 3-4 tablespoons of lemon juice in a cup until smooth and brush the American cookies with it.
